Ippo losing was bound to happen eventually, but out of all of his matches I feel like this was one that he should've been able to win. Kinda feels like he just gave up in that third round and sustained too much damage as a result.
Nah making him a champion straight up would've been too rushed, especially given Date's story, losing to him has an impact and keeps a very strong plot device still in play, Ippo is still too immature and Hero-worships wayyy too much, not a champion's mentality
lol ippo deserve to lose on this match, he doesn't have the mentality of a champion, he cant even make himself believe to his own skill, always thinking why the opponent is stronger, he's not a champion figure so far, he better improve his mindset first
So harsh of you but you are definitely righto.
Ippo you did greatT-T
so sad man ):
i hate u date
he is the champion for a reason :(
Thinking about it logically, ippo is 19 with only months of experience. While he is fighting a person who is 28 yo and has years of boxing experience. There ain't no way he can win
Think Ippo has around 3-4 years of experience. But yeah, quite the gap in terms of experience
he only has 2 years
He was 16 when he joined the gym and now he’s 19 so more like 3 years.
hes 29 i think
you are wrong
Look, I wanted Ippo to lose at least once but fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck maaaaaaaaan, this is just way too sad but in my mind i wanted the towel to be thrown right when I saw date was going for the final shot and I felt a small bit of relief when I saw that the towel was thrown
Why this mfs had to let a 19 yr old compete a fucking champion with exp of so many years 😭
damn, like they foreshadowed, the weakness of the liver blow, it leaves his left guard wide open.
What an exhilarating match! I loved Ippo and Coach's trust in each other!
It could've gone either way, but Ippo is definitely the strongest challenger, that fighting spirit is scary af 💪
Coach did a great save there, it could've been nasty if one more clean punch landed there
I'm looking forward to Date's future challenges, and Ippo's future after his first official defeat! 🔥
Ippo you did great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn..... (〇o〇;) this k.o. was a lot different than i thought... It's too overwhelming thinking he gave his utmost , even when he's unconscious and kamogawa had to throw in the towel...
I'm fine with Ippo losing because it's expected but not like this.
its about damn time he lost goddamn i was so tired of seeing him slowly get more and more beat near death just to win a match. and even now he- like hes NOT EVEN CONSCIOUS aint NO WAY he was about to win this match. hell he should've lost the last one too cuz theres just no way he was gonna be able to win this one.
Good ref tho
Hatters who wanted ippo to loose , here is it , what you wanted , enjoy now , ippos
" first loss in official match "
ippo without plot armor lmao
nah even if ippo had the greatest of the great plot armour this series is about boxing. Ippo was BOUND to lose atleast ONCE. the skill and experience is actually insane though. Ippos been doing boxing for 3 years and Date has been doing this for YEARS upon YEARS and on top of that he's a champion for the COUNTRY
I'm Glad that authors didn't made Ippo win , or else it would have been obvious that he could overcome any obstacles in match at end and win , they kept it real
Perfect hurdle for Ippo to fall, first it was technical and emotional stuff he had to get over, technical aspect for the most part, here it was everything, technical, mentality, emotions, experience. Ippo hero-worships way too much and Date had way too much of his story to complete, this allows a rematch to exist and symbolising the passing of the torch and gives Date his time to find peace and salvation
The voice breaks from the commentator never ceased to make me laugh. Lol.
And also, I hate to see you lose Ippo. But you've done great. Sugi no wa gambare!!!
No matter how the things are it always feel sad to be left out despite of being better than other!
I have the same empty feeling I got after the finale of Berserk '97 and Devilman Crybaby EP9, been a while... I'm speechless
😭
This episode hits hard after watching rocky
first ko
I thought ippo will win this fight 'cause he lose at their sparring match but this match was superb, imagine ippo give his all and at the same time the coach he's admiring and put all his faith throw the towel. The impact of those sequence where he falls and towel where throw was really superb
It was a great match from the start I wondered how ippo will take on date. He has more experience and is more seasoned than ippo. It was a conflict whether to choose ippo or date to win. Ippo should have fought against guys higher than volg without doing it they have given him 1st rank.
Chief threw the towel at the correct time or else the referee would not have stopped date. I would like to see where it goes on from now date will probably go at the world title retiring his belt, so we will soon have a tournament for the title.
i think it is the best
he's conceited in thinking that his punches would obliterate anyone!
except he never thought that even once
If ippo said during the break to the coach something like "the belt is mine" or something I woulda went crazy... guess we wait for that mentality hopefully in the future
Ippo didn't have plot armor this match. I thought he'd lose to Volg. I believe this is for the best. He needs to develop his mindset of himself more. It's okay to have modest but, at some point you got to think highly of yourself.
i find Ippo pathetic in the last match lol. if only he stopped thinking and just punch his way through, he wouldn't be that beat up.
My man was fighting while unconscious and this dude calling him pathetic 😂😂 get a grip bro
didn't u read what i said lmao. its not about fighting while unconscious, im referring about his overthinking.
Nah bro even with his overthinking he was nowhere near pathetic
we needed ippo to lose once T-T but this is too sad ;-;
